Liftago expanding into package deliveries

7 March 2019

Liftago, a Czech version of Uber, is expanding into the courier business, a move that similarly mirrors the better known service Uber Eats. Where it appears to be a step ahead is that it’s completed a deal with the logistics company Zasilkovna and will be focusing primarily on packages from online shops. According to a press release that came out yesterday, drivers will be able to pick up both people or packages, as Liftago intends to offer the service without having to expand its stable of drivers, which currently stands at around 1,500. “With further technological development of the platform, drivers could transport packages in the boot of the car while picking up passengers nearby so practically they would never be driving empty,” said Liftago’s boss Ondřej Krátký. “Along with greater efficiency this would also mean higher wages and fewer automobile traffic in cities.”
