Local elections called for June 10

15 March 2012

The Romanian government has decided that local elections will be organized on June 10, and it’s allocated RON 100m for their organization, one third more than in 2008. The government said that the judges of the Central Election Bureau would be appointed by March 31.
Parties, political alliances and organizations belonging to national minorities will have to report their election logos to the Bureau by April 10 and all candidacies must be filed by May 1.
The campaign, in which mayor and city councilors are to be chosen, begins May 11 and runs until June 9.
Parliamentary elections are expected in late November.
