The logistics sector is growing much faster than the European economy, according to the data compiled by Prologis. Warehouse stock has increased by 60 percent over the past 10 years, while the economy grew 10 percent, according to Prologis. In 2016, 6 million sqm of new warehouses were completed around Europe. E-commerce and retail give the sector new momentum. In Slovakia, Prologis started construction of three warehouses totaling 81,000 sqm in 2016. The largest 56,000 sqm property near Galanta is a BTS for Tesco. Outside of Bratislava, the company started 21,700 sqm speculatively. The developer completed two sheds totaling 45,000 sqm and leased out 232,000 sqm, double its activity in 2015. By the end of 2016, its portfolio was fully occupied, and Prologis purchased 22.6 ha at Prologis Park Bratislava for further development.
