In a sign of improving retail sales and internal consumption on the Spanish market, a total of 410,000 sqm of logistics space was leased in 2016 in Madrid, while 645,000 sqm was taken in Barcelona, according to local news reports. Prime rents were around €5/sqm/month in Madrid and are expected to rise this year. In Barcelona, prime rents currently stand at €6/sqm/month, having increased by 9 percent in 2016 due to a lack of Triple A product and increased operator demand.
