LOT looks to avoid bankruptcy

4 February 2013

The supervisory board of Poland’s national airline operator LOT will meet today to discuss ways to keep the company afloat. LOT is looking for a new head to guide it through its latest rough patch. The short list includes Andrzej Wysocki, Tomasz Dembski, Marek Mazur and Sebastian Mikosz. All four are internal candidates and are familiar with the LOT structure.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk said Friday that Treasury Minister Mikołaj Budzanowski will lose his job if LOT’s restructuring process fails. The stakes are high. According to the daily Dziennik Gazeta Prawna if LOT were to go bankrupt, Poland’s GDP could drop by 3 percent.
