LOT Polish Airlines had 4.2 million passengers in 2021, the carrier said. Taking into account the difficulties related to the pandemic, LOT positively assesses the operating results for the previous year: the regularity of operations was 99.7%, and the punctuality increased to 86%.

Due to successive variants of the coronavirus and the uncertainty of travel, the air transport market did not recover last year, as expected by experts at the end of 2020. LOT used this time to expand its activities in the holiday travel segment – thanks to cooperation with travel agencies, we have completed four times more operations charter than in 2020. In the cargo transport segment, LOT was ranked as the leader on the Polish market, carrying almost twice as much cargo as in 2020. The national carrier performed a total of over 54,000 operations on 151 routes, visiting 109 airports, carrying almost 4.2 million passengers, covering 80 million km in that time, LOT announced.

While after the lifting of entry restrictions to New York (JFK and EWR) and to Chicago, the number of guests on board of planes to North America returned to the 2019 level, the Asian grid is still significantly reduced – Seoul, Tokyo or Beijing / Daxing . As part of the European network, connections to Paris or Vilnius were very popular, while Tirana, being the most popular holiday destination, turned out to be an absolute hit. In the winter season, flights to Dubai, launched in autumn, and renewed connections to Colombo and Miami, gained popularity, LOT stated.

The carrier reminds that 2021 is also the time to introduce new amenities: passengers traveling on Boeing 737s have at their disposal a wireless in-flight entertainment system, a new offer of meals for economy class passengers, and thanks to the new version of the lot.com website, the purchase of a ticket or ordering additional services is faster and faster. more comfortable.

“The time of the pandemic has hit the aviation industry particularly hard. However, at LOT Polish Airlines we used this period to take advantage of all possible business opportunities, developing where the demand was greatest – in holiday and cargo transport. business partners for their trust and cooperation,” said Michał Fijoł, board member responsible for commercial affairs.

The regularity of operations was 99.7%, and punctuality increased to 86%, which puts us in the eighth place of the most punctual carriers in Europe. I would also like to thank everyone involved in LOT Polish Airlines operations: handling agents, air traffic control services, airport employees and mechanics, employees and associates of LOT. Thanks to the cooperation we managed to achieve such good results. I am convinced that this year will be even better,” added Maciej Wilk, member of the management board for operational matters.
