Talks concerning a joint venture between the state-owned company Lotos and US Calenegry Resources for shale gas extraction along Poland’s coastline are to begin soon, according to Dziennik Gazeta. Following the Ministry of Treasury’s failure to secure a strategic investor for a 53 percent stake in Poland’s refinery giant in March, Lotos chief Paweł Olechowicz said privatization is not a solution and started the search a partner. “I confirm it, we’re currently negotiating with Lotos Group on the development on a gas field in the Baltic sea”, says Anna Strzelecka from Calenergy Resources Poland. Lotos officials offered no comments on the matter.
