Lower demand for real estate in the center of Zagreb due to earthquake

After quarantine in Croatia, the real estate market has recovered and is growing again. Demand has risen, but there is less quality real estate on offer. Vice President of the Real Estate Association at the Croatian Chamber of Commerce Borislav Vujovic points out that the locations of buildings in Zagreb are attractive, but not the buildings themselves, and after the earthquake that hit Zagreb this year, people want to go outside Zagreb and build quality and safe houses. That is why the price of a square meter is about 500 euros lower than before March 15. The price of newer buildings in the center is stable, and they are more attractive than they were before. Their price is rising, but since there are fewer of them, they do not affect the prices in the center of Zagreb. Along with Zagreb – Rijeka, Osijek, Split, Pula and Zadar are the cities in which the offer of apartments for sale has been most sought after lately.

As for the coast, there is a great interest from foreigners to buy. Most of the buyers are Slovenians, Austrians and Germans. They are not only looking for apartments by the sea, but also houses in isolation and further in from the coast.
