Lufthansa Technik invests €35m in Sofia

Lufthansa Technik’s Bulgarian division is planning a major expansion with construction work to include a new hangar, a multifunctional facility with office space and new workshops. It’s a joint venture between Bulgarian Airways Group and Lufthansa Technik that’s expected to result in a €35m investment. Lufthansa Technik is a leader in the aircraft maintenance and repair services and expects through this expansion to increase its output to 1 million man-hours per year, while creating jobs for 1,300 people. Lufthansa Technik Sofia also provides services in the Varna and Burgas airports. It set up the company in Bulgaria in 2007 when the country acceded to the EU through an investment of €100m.
