Macedonia’s GDP grew by 2.0 percent in Q1 2016

GDP growth in Macedonia reached 2 percent in the first quarter of 2016, according to preliminary data from the State Statistical Office. The biggest increase for the period was recorded in financial and insurance activity (13.3 percent), professional, scientific and technical activities and administrative and support service activities (11.7 percent) and construction (7.7 percent).

In Q1 2016, household consumption, including non-profit institutions serving households, increased by 3.2 percent in nominal terms, with its share of GDP at 64.3 percent. For the same period, the export of goods and services increased by 12.6 percent in nominal terms, while imports of goods and services increased by 7.4 percent.
