Consumer prices on the Macedonian market fell 0.3 percent y-o-y in August, marking the sixth straight month of deflation, according to the National Statistics Office. Prices also fell by 0.3 percent in July.
The biggest drops were reported in transport (-3.7 percent), health (-1.2 percent) and food and non-alcoholic beverages (-1.1 percent). Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco, by comparison, increased by 4.8 percent. The country’s inflation rate has averaged 1.9 percent over the last 10 years with a high of 9.9 percent in June 2008 and a low of -2.10 in December 2009, according to the National Statistics Office.
