Marbella lets architects issue occupancy permits

4 May 2020

In Marbella, municipal officials approved measures that will enable qualified architects to certify buildings for use during the period of the COVID-19 crisis. The move has been taken in order to facilitate the sale of new properties, since deals can’t be finalized if the property in question does not have its License of First Occupation (LFO). Architects will be empowered to verify, on their own responsibility, that the property or building meets the requirements of applicable planning regulations to be used by owners and tenants. The process has been taking up to a year to complete, but it’s now believed that the time will be cut to just a matter of weeks or days.
