Marriott’s Middle East expansion to begin in Doha

Marriott International has announced at the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference its plan to expand in the Middle East and Africa (MEA). The hotelier’s first project will be a new 300-suite Marriott Executive Apartments in Doha. Marriott already operates nearly 150 properties in the MEA region with nine brands in 19 countries. The company also plans to open 10 new properties offering 4,600 rooms between United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia between 2016 and 2017. The company anticipates expanding into Iraq, Gabon, Rwanda, Tunisia, Benin, Kenya, Libya and Mauritius between now and 2025.

“We have ambitious plans for growth internationally, and the Middle East and Africa will play a large role in helping us achieve both our short-term and long-term targets,” said Alex Kyriakidis, President and Managing Director, Middle East and Africa of Marriott International.
