Marriott to take over Warsaw’s Sheraton hotel

Marriott International is taking over Warsaw’s Sheraton hotel from Starwood Hotels, part of a USD 12.2bn cross-border deal, including other top brands like Ritz Carlton and the Autograph Collection. Marriott aims to create world’s biggest hotel chain with 5,500 hotels with 1.1m rooms worldwide. The company is also seeking to expand its presence in Europe, Latin America and Asia including India and China. The transaction is expected to close in the second half of 2016. Lazard and Citigroup advised Starwood on the deal and Deutsche Bank Securities advised Marriott.
