The Swedish health company Medicover opened its first local hospital in January, following an investment of €20m. The hospital is located in the Aviation district of Bucharest and offers emergency care, neo-natal, maternity, and intensive care divisions, an imaging department, pediatric care and surgery theaters. Medicover plans to open another hospital with 150-200 beds in Pipera district in Bucharest. However, the project is currently on standby, with progress dependent on impending reforms of Romania’s health care system.
Medicover operates a network of 11 clinics, five of which are located in Bucharest. It also controls a network of 13 Synevo laboratories.
In all, Medicover employs over 450 doctors and nurses.
