The electronics producer Melexis plans to invest €75m in its operations in Sofia over the next five years. The Belgian-based company plans to add 15,000 sqm of new production and warehouse space to its current 7,500 sqm facility in the Bulgarian capital. In 2018 Melexis plans to invest the first €17m of the total, which will allow it to increase the number of its employees from 450 to 575. By the end of 2022, the total will grow by another 160 employees. The company’s Bulgarian division produces microchips for the automotive industry. Melexis operates in 14 countries, employing more than 1,400 people.
