Frank Klein, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Hungary said his company currently takes deliveries from 18 Hungarian-based suppliers at its factory of Kecskemét, but that he’d like to see that number rise. Klein explained that various difficulties arose during the realization of the Bavarian automobile giant’s investment in Hungary, but that sufficient help from the local council and the state government was forthcoming to overcome them. He now says there’s a strong bond of trust with Hungary that he hopes can be counted on in the long-term. This year, 40,000 cars should be produced in Kecskemét, but the plan is to increase this amount to 100,000 by 2013. By next year, Hungary will be the only place where the new CLA models will be manufactured.
