Metroprojekt and Sudop Praha were tapped to prepare a high-speed railway connection between Veleslavín in Prague 6 and the Václav Havel Airport with a bid of CZK 61m. The National Railway Operator (SŽDC) will sign a contract with the two companies on Tuesday. Work on the key section of the railway connection could start as soon as 2020, according to SŽDC. The modernized track will connect the Masaryk rail station in Prague 1 with the city of Kladno to the west of Prague, with a stop at the Prague airport. Trains will travel above ground between the Masaryk station and Stromovka park, while a tunnel will connect Dejvice and Veleslavín. The Dejvice station will be underground and will be located near the Hradčanská metro A station. The Praha Dejvice station will no longer serve railway traffic. The whole track is expected to cost CZK 20bn.
