Construction works for Line 6 subway that would connect the 1 Mai metro to the Otopeni airport will start next year, announced Metrorex in a press release. The new subway route will be approximately 14 kilometers long and will have 12 stations, ending with the Otopeni Airport station.
This project, whose cost amounts to approximately €1.3bn, is included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan 2016-2030 Bucuresti-Ilfov. However, funding for the project has not yet been identified yet, so Metrorex’s next step will be to apply for funding.
