Metrostav affiliate building light metro in Germany

26 August 2014

BeMo Tunnelling, the Austrian subsidiary of the Czech construction giant Metrostav, is building a “light metro” for trams in the German city of Karlsruhe. Project costs are expected to total €579m or CZK 16bn. The T-shaped route will cover 4.6km and include seven stations. BeMo is cooperating on the project with other Metrostav companies, including Zakládání staveb. Metrostav bought BeMo Tunnelling last summer. The Austrian company was part of Alpine Bau, which went bankrupt.
