Tax free – VAT refund to travelers will be replaced by electronic circulation from January 1, 2022 and will be made available on the electronic fiscal and customs services platform, and the new system will also contribute to tightening the tax system in Poland, informed Ministry of Finance. From July 1, 2021, entrepreneurs will be able to register on the PUESC platform in order to be able to adapt to the new regulations.

The development of modern services and digital services is high on our agenda. From the new year on, there will be changes in the VAT refund system for travelers – the popular Tax Free system. It is a response to the needs reported by business, the benefits will also be felt by travelers. He stressed that “the new system will contribute to tightening the tax system in Poland”.
From January 1, 2022, all sellers in the VAT refund system for travelers will be required to issue Tax Free documents in electronic form, the ministry said.
The new system makes things easier for businesses and travelers – ie all information will be in one place, there will be a level playing field, as well as convenience and time savings, the report also said.
“We want the registration to the national Tax Free system via the platform to take place earlier – from 1 July this year – free of charge, six months before the change, all entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to adapt to the new system” – said Magdalena Rzeczkowska, head of the National Tax Administration (KAS) during the conference.
“We hope that after the pandemic is over, we will return to the number of entrepreneurs registered in the Tax Free system and it will grow” – she added.
She indicated that the new system is a benefit related to the tightening of the Polish tax system and greater transparency in transactions in the Tax Free system.
The entrepreneur, after registering on the Tax and Customs Electronic Services Platform (PUESC), will indicate the places where he will sell and refund tax in the Tax Free procedure, the ministry said.
“Compared to the current system, he will not have to attach a cash register receipt to the Tax Free document. The Tax Free documents issued by him will be electronic. are already selling goods to travelers, as well as those entrepreneurs who are just going to start selling in the Tax Free system, the ministry said.
Changes to the Tax Free system were initiated in November 2020.
