Miami makes top ten of metro areas for creating construction jobs

29 April 2016

According to new data from the Associated General Contractors of America the Miami metro area added 7,000 new construction jobs between March 2015 and March of 2016. Out of 358 metropolitan areas surveyed using data from the U.S. Department of Labor, Miami had the seventh highest increase in construction jobs. Of the 358 cities surveyed 244 added to the job roles while the remaining 70 are still recovering from the recession. Over the course of the last four years construction jobs in Miami have risen from 30,600 to 46,100.

“As demand for construction grows in Miami and many other parts of the country, more firms are facing the challenge of finding enough qualified workers,” said Brian Turmail, national spokesman for AGC. “To avoid going from a market where firms don’t have enough work to one where they don’t have enough workers, the nation needs to take steps to prepare the next generation of workers.”
