Downtown 56 LLC. is set to submit plans for a new residential tower on the site of Cultural Center Garage. In 2013, the Miami Parking Authority board approved the development located at 70 SW First Street. The garage also know as Garage 2, sits on a 28,910 square foot lot while the adjacent property of 17,000 square feet is already owned by Downtown 56. The plans call for a 52-story tower with 432 rental units on the empty lot and the garage to be restored, refurbished and brought up to current codes, while adding additional spaces and ground floor retail. The company should submit project documentation to the city in the next few months while construction is expected to take 36 months.
