Mineco Group has opened a new mine in Bosnia’s Olovo municipality, about 50 km northeast of Sarajevo. The British metal mining company invested about €6m in this project over the past six years. The EU also provided financing. This is the first metal mine to open in Bosnia in the last 30 years. The project’s research was conducted exclusively by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program. In the region this is the only mine of this ore. Mineco Group signed the mining exploration concession in 2012 and added 120 new jobs to the local workforce. Mineco also owns a mine in Novo Gorazde.
