Poland’s diplomats have been kicked out to leave Belerus, following Poland’s recent imposition of EU’s new restrictions on his country’s regime. Brussels has tightened its visa sanction for Belerus officials and in effect over 200 of them are banned to enter European borders. EU insists that all political prisoners kept in Belerus should be released and it’s called for Łukashenko to respect basic human rights. “Lukashenko is influenced by certain groups in Russia that want a confrontation with the West… Lukashenko feels he has their support and is confident,” said Anatol Labedzka, the leader of the United Citizens Party to Gazeta Wyborcza daily. Other European diplomats have followed their Polish colleagues in a gesture of solidarity and have returned to their respective countries for consultations.
