Mira Telecom to participate in emergency mobile network

Mira Telecom announced plans to participate in a EU-funded disaster relief telecommunications project that will involve partners from seven countries.

The project is supposed to enable countries to build a rapidly accessible mobile network to allow communications between citizens and rescue teams in affected areas. In all, 16 partners have signed onto the project from Romania, Slovenia, France, Germany, Italy, Great Britain and Australia. The project is valued at €11.2m, €8m of which will be funded by the EU. The project will be launched within 36 months.

Mira Telecom is the project’s only Romanian partner. Partners from other countries include industrial companies, universities, small and medium-sized enterprises, regulatory institutions, network and satellite operators.
