Miroglio picks up bankrupt Serbian textile factory

31 October 2017

The Italian company Miroglio has bought the textile factory AHA Mura Prvi Maj in Pirot, Serbia. At the public tender that was being held for the sixth time, Miroglio was the only bidder, a fact which allowed it to pick up the facility for around €1.6m. The company had been in bankruptcy since 2015 following an unsuccessful attempt to revive it by its English-Slovenian owner, the AHA Mura group. Before the bankruptcy, Prvi Maj had 1,300 employees.
Miroglio specializes in textile production and distribution, operating in 34 countries with more than 1,200 stores. Its main brands are Motivi, Oltre, Fiorella Rubino, and Elena Mirò. It plans to employ 500 people in Pirot by the time production begins.
