MKB bank reports HUF 20bn loss for H1 2012

The Hungarian branch of MKB bank made a first half loss of HUF 20bn, a result of the bank tax and falling revenues. MKB bank’s debt service increased 15% while interest revenues rose only slightly, leading to a fall in net interest income of HUF 31.8bn, down from HUF 40bn in the first half of 2011. Its HUF 20bn loss this year compared to a HUF 18bn loss in 2011. However, the bank reports that its capital adequacy position is stable, and within regulatory guidelines.
