The Maitland City Council has approved the plans for MMI Development Inc’s Maitland West mixed use development. The new project will feature restaurants and retail space, a 41,179-square-foot grocery store and a 71,675-square-foot sports store, as well as 200,700 square feet of office space. The project’s first phase will be the $52 million, 315 unit apartment development. MMI Development Inc. also plans a $2 million extension of Summit Centre Way, which will provide a link to Forest City Road to the west of the project. Walker & Co. has been chosen as the general contractor with JHMC as the site contractor and will handle building the road extension. Construction is expected to kick off by year’s end.
“We are very excited to finally begin developing our Maitland West project this year, and the timing could not be more perfect,” said Mike Wright, president of MMI Development. “With the expansion of I-4 project getting underway this summer, the opportunity for residents to live in a quality new development near the Maitland Office Center is very appealing.”
