Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed a contract for the construction of a second Mövenpick hotel at the Stuttgart airport. The hotel, which is expected to open in spring 2019, will be situated next to the S-Bahn and the planned ICE airport station, where the terminal station for trams is also located. The hotel will have a 150 seat restaurant and a bar with seating for 100 guests. For events and conferences, the design incorporates a 740 sqm ballroom in addition to several meeting rooms. Ulm architects Mühlich, Fink & Partner will design the 262-room hotel on the site of a former airport administration building. „We are proud to support all the stakeholders, not least Stinag, Stuttgart Invest and Flughafen Stuttgart, in their efforts to transform this first-class location into one of the most important hubs in Germany,“ said Jürgen Köhler, General Manager and Director of Operations Germany.
