MOL and CEZ put power plant project on hold

6 December 2012

The Hungarian fuel company MOL and the Czech electricity conglomerate CEZ have put their gas-fired power plant in Bratislava on hold because of high fuel prices. The project will be reconsidered after market conditions improve, according to officials. This project has been discussed since 2007 and was approved in 2010 by the government. The 880 megawatt gas-fired power plant near the Slovnaft refinery in Bratislava could end up costing €720m, and was scheduled to go on-line in 2013.
