Moldova’s economy up 5.8% in Q2

Moldova’s economy grew by 5.8 percent y-o-y in the second quarter, driven by retail and wholesale, according to the country’s statistical office. GDP totaled $2.8bn, up 2 percent q-o-q based on seasonally adjusted data. The gross value added in the economy increased by 6.6 percent y-o-y, thanks to construction and retail. Household consumption was up by 1.5 percent y-o-y, while gross fixed capital formation increased by 6.9 percent. Exports increased by 1.2 percent y-o-y, and imports were up 3.2 percent.
