Montenegro is investing more than €1bn into large ecological projects, according to Ivana Vojinović, Director General of the Directorate for the Environment in the Ministry of Sustainable Development and Tourism in Montenegro. Funding is coming from a variety of sources including the IPA and other European Union funds, state and municipal budgets, and international financial institutions.
Through credit arrangements of international financial institutions, collector and sewage networks are currently being built across the entire territory of Montenegro along with multimillion-euro investments in the construction of wastewater treatment plants.
