Montenegro ranks top in region on Global Index of Economic Openness

Montenegro is the best-ranked country in the Balkan region when it comes to openness as well as the assessment of factors that affect domestic and international trade capacity, according to the Global Index of Economic Openness. The ranking is published by the Legatum Institute in the UK. Overall, Montenegro ranked 48th out of 157 countries, up four places from the previous year. By comparison, Croatia ranked 49th, North Macedonia took the 59th spot, while Serbia came in at 65th, Bosnia ranked 93rd.
