Completion of a new section of the Podgorica-Matesevo motorway will not be completed by September 30 as planned, according to the Montenegro’s Ministry of Transport and Maritime. Prime Minister Dusko Markovic said the local contractor responsible for construction had lost 800 workers because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Of course, the 42 km stretch was originally supposed to be opened in May 2019, but this was pushed back 17 months. At the time, the delay was blamed on poorly prepared technical and design documentation. The new deadline is expected to be set for sometime during the first half of 2021.
