The budget for the Czech road authority Ředitelství silnic a dálnic (ŘSD) will be nearly doubled in 2013. This year’s budget earmarks CZK 3.5bn for road infrastructure projects. In the past, ŘSD had to make do with CZK 2bn. ŘSD’s plans include construction of the R3 motorway in south Bohemia and the R11 motorway near the Polish border.
Contractors for 16 projects were chosen last year and further tenders are to follow. ŘSD plans to focus more on the South Moravian region, where a part of the Brno ring road is currently underway. R3, connecting the D3 motorway to the German border in Dolní Dvořiště, should be completed in 2018.
