Since 1990, more than 1 million homes have been built on the Romanian market, with developers hitting this milestone in the first quarter of 2016, according to a DTZ analysis. The country’s total residential stock of houses and apartments amounted to 8.9 million as of Q1 of which just 11 percent was built in the last 26 years, according to data from the National Statistics Institute. The country’s north-east regions have seen the most residential development since 1990, with more than 200,000 houses and apartments completed, the data shows.
