Mortgage interest rates hit historical low in Slovakia

5 June 2014

Mortgage interest rates have dropped to a historical low in Slovakia. Interest rates slipped by 0.2 percent to 3.32 percent in April. Ján Porázik, an analyst at Fincentrum, told sme.sk that this was the steepest decline in one and a half years. The move, on the other hand, has boosted demand for mortgages, with banks granting €455m in mortgages in April. This is the second highest monthly volume in the history of Slovakia. The record was set in March, when €465.9m in mortgages were granted. Porázik said a moderate decrease in rates is expected to continue.
