Mortgage loans returned to get cheaper in January

24 February 2016

Loans that fall under Portugal’s state subsidized program ā€œHouse Acquisitionā€ offered consumers mortgages with 1.206% interest in January. The average loan payment from all contracts fell one euro compared to December 2015, to €240. Portugal’s National Statistics Institute claims that this is the result of interest rate being paid, while the average amortization component was unchanged in January, compared to the month before. The average amount of outstanding principal for all mortgage loan contracts fell, however, from €52,110 in December to €52,096 in January 2016.
