Mortgage rates may have bottomed out in Slovakia. VÚB Banka offered a fixed, three-year rate of 1.39 percent in early February, forcing Slovenská sporitelna to come up with similar offer for both three- and one-year fixations. Prima banka introduced a 1.2-percent mortgage rate and plans to offer it through May. Banks are also offering to remit the tax associated with processing a mortgage, worth up to €999, or for entry into the cadastre (€66). ČSOB and Tatra banka are keeping their rates at slightly above 1.4 percent.
