The construction of the undersea Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline to Europe will be completed, government officials revealed on Thursday. But the project will have to overcome pressure against it from the United States, as senators in Washington are considering drafting further sanctions on the Nord Stream-2 natural gas pipeline if Moscow finishes laying pipes.
This could prove to be another blow to the project which has already been postponed. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow considers the sanctions to constitute unfair competition and that they are in violation of international law. Poland is also considering fines for Gazprom in connection with the project.
