Live births in Hungary fell by 4.8 percent y-o-y in August, while the death rate increased by 1.5 percent compared with the previous year, according to the Central Statistical Office (KSH). In the first eight months of the year, the number of live births fell by 0.6 percent from the same period in 2016, while the death rate increased by 6.9 percent. In August, 8,045 children were born, 407 less than the previous year. The number of recorded deaths, meanwhile, totaled 9,985, 149 more than in August 2016, according to KSH.
