New Czech-Austrian-German region established

2 July 2012

Representatives of seven Czech, Austrian and German regions officially established a new European region in Linz. The six million inhabitants living in the 60,000 square km area believe the new region will better represent their interests in Brussels, writes ČTK. The region is to be called Danube-Moldau. One of the main priorities of the new formation is to improve the region’s infrastructure, according to Czech representatives, who hope to have a say in large cross-border projects such as the railway corridor connecting Czech Republic with Regensburg and Munich and the supranational road going from West Bohemia to Bavaria.
