Businessman Gordanco Mircevski opened a potato chips factory in the town of Kravari, near Bitola, in Macedonia. Mircevski invested €3m in the new plant and will employ 100 people.
“Currently Macedonia imports potato chips, despite the fact that we are major producers of potatoes. We intend to begin by processing 5,000 tons of potatoes and initially place our product in Macedonia, with aim to invest in European and Australian markets,” said Mircevski. Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski attended the opening ceremony on Saturday.
