New fund to target Czech rental residential sector

26 June 2018

A new Czech fund for qualified investors has been set up to target the rental residential sector. Jakub Kořínek says that Fond česke bydlení’s first acquisitions will be apartment buildings that are already rented out. But he expects demand for rental units to increase in the coming years and that developers will react by building projects to satisfy them. On the investor side, he predicts that many wealthy Czechs scouting the market for real estate opportunities realize that buying properties on their own is time consuming and requires real expertise.

“Many people think about buying apartments or entire apartment buildings as an investment but along with this they’re also buying uncomfortable problems connected with their operations, that few would like to take on. We’ll offer them a chance to take part in a diversified portfolio of residential properties,” Kořínek told Hospodářské noviny. He claims the fund is close to buying several properties worth tens of millions of crowns. Investors have to put in at least CZK 1 million as a minimum investment.
