82 leasing companies throughout 2020 concluded 560 thousand contracts new lease agreements for 654 thousand Leased assets worth PLN 50.2 billion, the Central Statistical Office reported. This means a decrease by 18.4% y / y.
During 2020, the examined leasing companies concluded 560,000 new contracts with 442,000 lessees, leasing 654,000 assets / items for the amount of PLN 50,191 million. The subject of these leasing agreements were both new assets / items (with a value of PLN 37,782 million) and used (PLN 12,408 million), according to the report.
The main position in the subject structure of new contracts last year it was leasing means of road transport – 69.4% of the total value. The share of passenger cars accounted for 61.4% of the value of means of road transport, and the share of trucks and vans – 16.2%.
Industrial machinery and equipment were an important leasing segment, accounting for 25.3% of the value of newly concluded contracts. In this group, 22.1% of the leased assets were construction equipment, 10.6% agricultural machinery, and 9.4% metalworking machinery. The share of computers and office equipment as well as leased real estate amounted to 1.6% and 1.2% of the total value of new leasing contracts, respectively, according to the report.
The entities of the national economy dominated in the entity structure of customers (lessees). They leased assets / objects for the amount of PLN 49,898 million (99.4% of the total value of new contracts). Among this group of entities, natural persons conducting business activity leased assets / objects worth PLN 17 774 million (35.4%), and lessees from public administration for the amount of PLN 133 thousand. PLN (0.3%), it was also indicated.
Taking into account the criterion of the type of business, the lessees were dominated by entities from the sections of wholesale and retail trade, transport and warehouse management, other service activities, industrial processing and construction. These industries concluded new contracts worth PLN 29,924 million, which constituted 59, 6% of the total value of contracts,” the Office announced.
In 2020, 39 leasing companies achieved a net profit of PLN 680 million, and 18 companies incurred a loss of PLN 187 million. Revenues from the overall activity of enterprises in which leasing activity was the only or dominant type of activity amounted to PLN 11,525 million.
As at the end of 2020, 9 thousand people worked in the surveyed entities. people dealing with leasing, including 7.5 thousand. people on the basis of an employment contract, 580 people on the basis of mandate, agency and specific-task contracts. Moreover, 940 people in the surveyed companies operated on the basis of self-employment.
