Hungarian Minister of National Economy György Matolcsy nominated Zoltán Cséfalvay to lead negotiations during the 2014-2020 EU budget discussions. Cséfalavay is currently the state secretary in charge of economic strategy. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said “the task of the minister is to restructure the institutional system and not to lead EU budget talks.” He added that it is the prime minister that discusses funds, while the economy minister is responsible for “the institutional system regulating the use of EU funds.”
