With the growing number of people living on the outskirts of Prague, pressure on the city’s transportation system is being stretched to its limits. Prague’s current leadership promised to re-start the construction of new Park & Ride facilities to encourage commuters to leave their cars on the edge of town and continue in using public transportation. Two new P+Rs opened at the end of 2019 in Branik, where 115 spaces have been created, and in Běchovice, where 64 spots are now available. The new parking spaces are just a fraction of what’s needed, but the city insists more are on the way. “This is exactly the way to improve traffic in Prague step-by-ste so we’ll continue with the construction of P+R lots in 2020,” said deputy mayor Adam Scheinherr.
