New Riga concert hall to cost €100m

31 May 2018

The new Riga concert hall is expected to cost around €100m, according to Latvian Culture Minister Dace Melbarde. “Construction costs have been rising steeply. In fact, everything has become significantly costlier than three years ago when the planning was done,” she said in an interview with lr magazine. The project is expected to be funded through a public-private partnership, which would see the private partner supply the funds, and the government repaying this loan over a fixed term. “I would be very glad if we manage to build the national concert hall in the next five to 10 years,” said Melbarde. A decision on the project is expected from the government in June.
