The number of companies that registered in Romania last year decreased by 5 percent from the previous year. Romania’s complicated bureaucracy and an increase in taxes may have contributed to the decrease, said the economist Cristian Paun.
According to the records, 125,668 companies registered last year. Most of the newly registered companies were LTDs, followed by “authorized natural persons.”
The most popular fields for new registrations in 2012 included vehicle and motorcycle repair, agriculture, forestry and fishing and professional, scientific and technical activities. Construction saw 2,000 less newly registered companies last year compared with 2011.
